When Next Innovation was founded in 2001 by a group of key employees from the originators of Ax, the Danish company Navision/Damgaard, it was with the clearly defined mission of providing expert assistance to the Ax implementation partners throughout the United States and Europe. The reason for this tight focus was simple; The Axapta experience within Next Innovation, whose founders were part of Ax’s history since its inception, was unparalleled in the United States. At the same time the Ax reseller channel was growing rapidly and the demand for qualified and experienced consultants skyrocketed.

Soon after Next Innovation’s formation, Microsoft acquired Navision/Damgaard and Next Innovation was invited to become a Certified Microsoft Partner. As Next Innovation’s skill level vastly exceeded the business partner requirements for Ax, the change of status was a mere formality and Next Innovation has been a Certified Microsoft Partner ever since.

Axapta changed name to “Microsoft Dynamics AX” in 2006.
